With the new Otus 1.4/100mm, ZEISS has added a new member to the proven Otus lens family in the telephoto focal length range. The low series dispersion, high imaging performance and excellent manufacturing make the ZEISS Otus 1.4/100mm one of the best lenses in its class.

The ZEISS Otus 1.4/100mm with its uncompromising performance, which characterizes all Otus lenses, is an optic of superlatives. All the extensive knowledge and experience of ZEISS has been incorporated here.

Although developed for 35mm full-frame cameras, with the Otus 1.4/100mm you will experience the quality and look of a medium format system.

In the studio or on location:
This lens impresses in every shooting situation with high resolution and excellent sharpness - even at an aperture of f/1.4.

Whether portrait or product photography, the bokeh will convince you. The apochromatic lens design with aspherical lenses and special glass elements prevents almost all conceivable image errors. The high-quality coating keeps the contrast high and the occurrence of stray light at an extremely low level, even when working against the light

Apochromat
As an apochromat, the chromatic aberrations (longitudinal color errors) of the lens are corrected by lenses made of special glass with anomalous partial dispersion. The chromatic aberrations are therefore well below defined limits. Light-dark transitions in the image and highlights in particular are reproduced largely free of color artifacts.

Highest image contrast
Aberrations are particularly evident in night shots with large differences in brightness. Thanks to the excellently corrected lateral chromatic aberration, the illuminated facade is reproduced absolutely perfectly.

No color fringing
Light sources located in front of or behind the focus distance are a particular challenge for any Lens. With the ZEISS Otus, the longitudinal color error is so low that color fringing is virtually eliminated.

Medium format look
Thanks to its outstanding sharpness, the ZEISS Otus makes optimum use of modern high-resolution sensors and rewards you with impressive resolution in your images. Down to the smallest detail.

Asphericaldesign
The aspherical lens design ensures consistent imaging performance over the entire focus range as well as sharpness at the periphery of the image. Compared to a simple lens, the more complex surface profile of the asphere can reduce or even prevent spherical aberration and reduce further optical aberrations.

Optical design
ZEISS Otus 1.4/100mm
A lens with relatively few glass-air surfaces, developed by Dr. Ludwig Bertele at ZEISS in 1930. At the time, it was the fastest lens for 35 mm photography with apertures up to 1:1.5 and high contrast thanks to good stray light behavior. Bright and high-contrast - hence the name, derived from the word sun, the symbol for maximum brightness. Modern lenses in the normal and telephoto range, whose optical design is based on this basic type, also offer the advantages mentioned above.

Sonnar design
Lens with aspherical optical surface
Lens made of special glass with anomalous partial dispersion
"Floating Elements" design
