PENTAX K-70 The small SLR camera with great features in a weatherproof design

Reliability is one of the most important requirements for a camera. It has to work when it is needed. And often under conditions where many cameras are better left in the bag. The PENTAX K-70 delivers such vivid, high-resolution images, even in the most demanding shooting conditions.
Whether it's under a blue sky, in the gentle rain or under a dark starry sky, the PENTAX K-70 captures the beauty of nature in great, unique photos.

PENTAX K-70: A camera that brings you a host of new experiences and discoveries, and helps you master even the most challenging situations, especially those that occur outdoors.
Outdoor-friendly design that pushes the boundaries of photography in extreme conditions.

High reliability - well proven in rigorous product testing.
The extra-small body of the PENTAX K-70 has 100 seals for optimum protection against moisture or dust ingress. This means that this camera can withstand everyday use in the urban jungle just as well as in tropical areas, on a beach vacation, on a safari or on a Greenland expedition.
In combination with the lenses of the AW or WR series, this provides optimum protection against environmental influences.

A special challenge for a camera is the working environment especially in cold temperatures. The PENTAX K-70 is designed to work reliably despite cold environments down to -10°C. This means that the mechanics, electronics and stable battery voltage can be relied upon even in icy conditions.
Even though the camera has special seals, we recommend always keeping the camera dry and drying it quickly after shooting.
Battery performance deteriorates in icy temperatures. In these cases, we recommend carrying a spare battery at body temperature.

The newly designed grip provides a secure and firm hold - even when wearing gloves.
The PENTAX K-70 has been designed with great attention to detail to ensure optimum comfort and maximum functionality. The four buttons on the four-way controller and the control dials are designed to be operated safely even when wearing gloves.

Easy dust removal from the sensor
The PENTAX K-70 is equipped with a highly sensitive and reliable AF sensor. Even poorly lit subjects are detected at a light level of -3. Even the human eye has difficulty with this.
The image sensor of the PENTAX K-70 is equipped with a special coating that makes it difficult for dust to adhere. Should dust nevertheless form on the sensor, it can be removed using the original PENTAX Dust Removal function by high-speed vibration of the sensor.

Remarkable imaging performance at high light sensitivity
The PENTAX K-70 features a new module the "Accelerator Unit" that optimizes the noise performance of the camera. In combination with the PRIME MII processor, image noise is reduced to a minimum.
Much more important than a new maximum sensitivity value is improved image quality in the common sensitivity ranges.

APS-C CMOS sensor without a low-pass filter and an effective resolution of 24.24 megapixels
The K-70 does not use a low-pass filter to improve sharpness. Thus, the resolution of 24.24 megapixels is perfectly utilized.

Low-pass filter simulation - To avoid the moirè effect and false colors
Optical low-pass filters are used to avoid false colors and moiré effects. The low pass filter simulation achieves exactly the same effect. It does this by causing the camera's sensor to micro-oscillate when necessary. You can choose between two intensities. In addition, you can specify that the simulation should only be activated for the following three exposures. After that, it is automatically switched off again.

PRIME MII image processor - The most powerful image processing. For your best images.
Our extensive know-how in digital photography and image processing has gone into the development of this image processor. It represents the sum of our experience and was originally developed for our medium format flagship, the PENTAX 645Z. Now it is also used in the K-3 II. Its superior performance delivers extremely high processing speeds and unparalleled image quality.

Body-integrated Shake Reduction - image stabilization with many functions
The PENTAX K-70 features the 3D image stabilizer developed by PENTAX. Gyro sensors on the image sensor detect horizontal, vertical and depth shifts and compensate for them by counter-movements of the sensor. The performance of the individual components now provides shake resistance of up to 4.5 light values. Thanks to the stabilizer integrated into the Body, the function works completely independently of the Lens used. All PENTAX lenses, lenses from other manufacturers and also adapted lenses can thus be used with this function.

The camera has a sensor shift function with the "crop adjustment" function. This uses sensor shift to simulate the action of a shift lens in 24 steps each (1.5 mm in total) in the horizontal and vertical directions. The same technique is used for the eight-step horizontal correction (+/- 1°), which can be used to adjust the horizontal alignment of the sensor.

Pan Detection
The K-70's Shake Reduction function is also active during camera pans. The gyro sensors analyze camera movements, reliably identify horizontal and vertical panning movements and control the sensor accordingly.

Fine and extra sharpness - improving sharpness performance with special functions
Width and thick contours often interfere with the sharpness impression of the image. The fine sharpness function makes the lines appear narrower, and the extra sharpness function increases the contrast of the lines. Both functions increase the sharpness impression of the images.

Compensation of blur caused by small aperture
The PENTAX K-70 effectively compensates for distortion, vignetting and lateral chromatic aberration.
Blur caused by selecting a small aperture is compensated by the camera. Approximately 2 f-stops are gained with this function, depending on the Lens.
This function can be used with the DFA, DA and DAL series Lenses. This correction also works with lenses, with a few exceptions.
High-performance AF system for sharp and brilliant images

Universal LCD monitor - monitor brightness to match the environment
The PENTAX K-70 offers options for the brightness of the LCD monitor for special lighting conditions.
This makes image control successful despite bright sunlight. And in darkness, the illumination can be dimmed accordingly. Astrophotographers will appreciate the red illumination of the Graphic User Inmterface.

Classic SLR technology for subject control
The PENTAX K-70 features a glass pentaprism viewfinder, which is also used in top models such as the PENTAX K-3 II. With a field of view of 100% and a viewfinder display of 0.95x, this offers optimal possibilities for image composition - independent of electronic influences. The high-quality coating ensures a brilliant image display that corresponds 100% to the original. Especially in this price segment, there is no better option for image composition.

High-speed AF operation during Live View shooting
For the first time, a Pentax K camera uses a hybrid autofocus system for Live View - in both still and video shooting. In addition to a contrast detection sensor, phase comparison metering ensures fast and precise focusing. Especially in video recording, the new hybrid autofocus provides significantly more comfort.

Swivel monitor - For perfect image control and photography from unusual perspectives
On the swiveling 3-inch LCD monitor, with a resolution of 921,000 dots, the exposure can be checked in parallel with the setting. At the same time, the hybrid autofocus offers many possibilities for focusing. In addition, the monitor is an important part of the "On-screen Graphic User Interface" (GUI). All important functions can be performed here without having to make trips to the various menus. The display can be calibrated and the font color and size can be changed individually

SAFOX X - Fast and reliable eye focus system even for low light conditions
Eleven sensors, 9 of which are cross-type sensors, are the basis for fast and accurate distance measurement. In the dark, these are supported by a focus light to reliably deliver sharp images even in the worst conditions, from a light value of -3. For fast action photography, the camera's automatic auto-tracking system detects the subject early on and constantly refocuses so that there is no further delay at the moment the shutter is released. On the other hand, the focus can be set completely individually via a separate AF memory button.
Several options are available for focusing. Depending on the requirements, the photographer can choose between 5-field or 11-field metering, spot metering, auto-tracking or manual focus field selection.

High speed shutter with 1/6,000 sec. shutter speed- outdoor often means activity
With a shutter speed of 1/6,000 sec., which is unusual for this class, photographs can be taken even of the briefest moments, during sports, family or leisure activities.

Automatic detection of difficult light conditions
In addition to conventional programs: Program (P), Time Preset (Tv) and Aperture Preset (Av), the PENTAX K-70 offers new functions such as the original PENTAX Sensitivity Preset (Sv) and Time and Aperture Preset (TAv). This allows for greater creativity and flexibility in exposure control.
In addition, the K-70 has a very wide exposure compensation range of +/- 5LW.

In addition to spot and center-weighted metering, the PENTAX K-S2 has exposure metering using 77 metering points. Based on the distance measurement and the sensors, an optimal exposure measurement is determined here.
In addition, the camera offers center-weighted or spot metering.

Exciting image series of up to 40 shots at up to 6 fps
The PENTAX K-70 offers high-speed continuous shooting of high-resolution images at 24 megapixels and 14 bits with a frame rate of up to 6 shots per second. And up to 40 JPEG images in succession to ensure you don't miss a single moment or facial expression of an action sequence.
So you don't miss a thing, just pick the best image afterwards.

Better image quality thanks to revolutionary "Pixel Shift Resolution"
Due to their design, conventional sensors have to interpolate missing RGB color information because it is not captured by all pixels of the sensor. The PENTAX K-70 offers the possibility to take 4 shots in series, shifting the sensor up, down, left and right respectively. The camera calculates one image from four individual images, which is saved as a JPEG or RAW file. Thanks to this innovative technology, all 24.24 megapixels are used in the image, which results in significantly better sharpness and color reproduction as well as less image noise.
The image stabilizer shifts the image sensor by one pixel step at a time. After four exposures, each individual pixel has stored all the information of the RGB color space. By bringing this unique depth of information together in one image, the ultimate high-resolution photos are created, with low noise.

ASTROTRACER - Astrophotography made easy.
The function of the optionally available Astrotracer O-GPS1 works hand in hand with the Shake Reduction module. The cooperation ensures that the image sensor is synchronized with the movement of celestial bodies during an exposure. The GPS receiver calculates the Earth's rotation and precisely tracks the image sensor. This way, stars do not appear as stripes but as dots during long exposure times.

Bulb - Timer function - pre-programmed long exposures
With the timer function in B mode, long exposures between 10 seconds and 20 minutes can be pre-programmed. Up to 5 minutes, steps can be selected in 10 second increments. With the extended range between 5 and 20 minutes, steps can be programmed in 1 minute intervals.

Quick control over freezing motion or depth of field with Hyper Program or Hyper Manual functions
The PENTAX K-70 is equipped with a front and rear control dial. This allows quick and easy control of exposure values without taking your eye from the viewfinder.
The Hyper Operating System allows quick and easy correction of exposure control.

White Balance - For Authentic Color Temperatures
The K-70's white balance function has appropriate presets for virtually all lighting situations. With the Multi Auto WB feature, the camera detects the color temperature separately for each image area.
The CTE setting is especially useful for capturing striking images with dominant colors, such as sunsets or lush natural greenery.

Versatile functions to create unique images
Select custom color characteristics according to your own style or desired image expression
The PENTAX K-70 offers a choice of 13 Custom Image setting, Select color characteristics that support the image effect according to your creative specifications.
Within the preselected settings, further parameters can be changed

"Clarity control" and "Skin Tone" image adjustment - To optimize the texture in the image
The "Clarity control" function is an image editing tool that improves or adjusts the surface texture. It supports the clarity of sky or water, or optimizes the shine of metal surfaces.
Nine levels between -4 and +4 are available for this.
In conjunction with automatic face detection, the "Skin Tone" function makes a correction to the coloring of faces. The skin is softened and captured in a pleasant tone

USER Mode - Personalize your Kamea
The more demanding the photographer, the greater the desire to customize camera operation. Frequently used setting options on the PENTAX K-70 can be stored as Pre-Settings to three User Programs. In addition, various buttons and functions can be individually programmed. For example, in addition to two function keys, the quick menu can also be customized as desired.
Dramatic images with a very high contrast spread are the hallmark of HDR images. If you use the optional Astrotracer, this is the optimal setting for capturing astrophotos with all the color variety, and without rendering black areas merely faded.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) - True-to-life reproduction of light and shadow
No device is as perfect as the human eye, allowing colors and details to be seen between sun and deep shadow.
The HDR (High Dynamic Range) function of the PENTAX K-70 delivers a very high-contrast image that is very similar to what the human eye sees. This results in images with sometimes very dramatic effects (Advanced HDR). This function can be adjusted in many options and adapted to the respective subject. This function can be used directly from the hand with a steady stance and without a tripod, because the camera makes an automatic position correction.

Up to 20 filter options give images their own touch
A special highlight are 20 filter functions, 9 of which are already available for shooting. Various color filters or "trick filters", such as miniature, pinhole, or star filters, each of which can be varied, expand the possibilities for photographic creativity.
Further countless functions are available for post-processing. Many filters with setting options allow an individual image design, which can otherwise only be implemented with an image editing program. Even the development of RAW data, directly in the camera, is possible.

Perfect alignment thanks to sophisticated alignment aid
The K-70 has information for aligning the camera. In addition to the digital spirit level, a "Jet Display" can be superimposed on the monitor to align the camera perfectly horizontally and vertically.

For perfect image alignment
The Shake Reduction unit, in conjunction with the alignment detection, makes it possible for the camera to detect insufficient horizontal alignment and correct this independently during shooting. A correction of up to 1.5° is possible.

"Auto Picture" and "Scene" programs
Simply turn the program dial to AUTO and press the shutter button. Photography couldn't be simpler. The Auto Picture program ensures perfect results by making settings for various shooting situations.
In addition, the camera offers 19 scene programs that not only set the time and aperture, but also perform additional image optimization.

Creativity is not neglected in video recording either
Play out the characteristic advantages of your SLR camera to create impressive Full HD videos. Use the entire range of advanced lenses available to you. From Fish-Eye to Supertele. You can also use special camera functions such as recording mode and digital filters. With an external microphone, even stereo sound is possible.

Product description for Pentax K-70 + DA 18-270mm ED SDM SMC

In addition, the PENTXA K-70 offers new functions. For example, focus tracking is available for video recordings. For this, we recommend the very quiet lenses: smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL[IF] DC WR or HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE, so that the focusing noise does not disturb the sound recording.

In addition, for the first time, the K-70 offers automatic aperture adjustment to achieve balanced exposure. This makes >use of the new electromagnetic aperture control, which is made possible in conjunction with the new KAF4 bayonet mount of the HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE.

Star Stream Video Recording - Phnatastic Star Videos
This feature records star trails. By using fade in and fade out you create exciting 4k videos.

For documenting longer periods of time
Interval recording is a good way to document longer periods of time. Using the 4K video function, you record videos at programmable intervals and combine them at the end to create a video in 4K resolution.

Easy image transfer
The "Image Sync" app allows you to operate the camera with many important function settings. At the same time, this app allows you to preview and transfer images.
This app is currently available on Google Play (for Android) and the iTunes Store (for (iOS).

Wireless Camera Control - Control the camera with your smartphone or tablet
Control your camera from your smartphone or tablet: view your photos, make changes to camera settings, see the live view image on your mobile device, and trigger the camera shutter from there.

Built-in RAW data development - get the most out of your photos
Develop your RAW data entirely without a PC - it's easy with the K-70, and then saved as TIFF or JPEG files. A variety of tools are available for RAW development: for example, changing the white balance or adjusting the capture mode parameters.
