  • Fast super wide-angle zoom (LEICA Lens)
  • F2,8-4,0
  • Focal length 8-18 mm (KB: 16-36 mm)
  • robust design
  • Dust, splash water and cold protection
  • 67 mm filter thread for protective or effect filters
  • 15 lenses in 10 groups (1 asph+ED, 3 asph., 2 ED, 1 UHR lens)

This fast zoom from the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit F2.8-4.0 series offers a very dynamic focal length range from 16 mm super wide-angle up to 36 mm for photo and video recordings. This makes it ideal for landscapes and architectural photography as well as for demanding available-light photography.

As with all lenses in the new series, Panasonic's Nano surface coating is used to suppress reflections and ghost images. The lenses in the new series are therefore characterized by a robust, metal, dust and splash-proof construction and are frost-proof down to -10 degrees Celsius. This means they can withstand professional use even under harsh conditions.

The new Leica-certified Lens guarantees the highest resolution and lowest distortion. The construction of the lens comprises 15 elements in 10 groups, including one aspherical ED lens, three aspherical and two ED lenses, as well as a UHR lens, which effectively suppresses spherical distortion and chromatic aberration and thus ensures outstanding image quality right to the edge of the image.
Thanks to its compact design, the use of the new lens is not at the expense of the photographer's mobility. Despite the large wide angle, the lens offers the attachment of 67mm filters for protection or to extend the shooting possibilities.

The new lens is also recommended for video recordings. The focus motor is compatible with the high-speed precision contrast AF system of the current LUMIX cameras with a maximum data exchange rate of 240 frames per second. It also contributes to a smooth focusing movement. The internal focusing works particularly quietly. In addition, the lens guide is exceptionally stable when zooming. It also ensures a smooth video image. Furthermore, the reliability of the AF tracking function when zooming is also improved thanks to the high-speed single image analysis during focus control.
