Unlimited in use
Photo and video journalism has many faces and documents a wide variety of stories. Whether social or cultural topics, outdoor and nature photography or political reportage - the stories are as diverse as the demands on the equipment used to tell them.

Anyone who pushes their own limits on assignments expects their camera and video equipment to be limitless. The robust Leica SL2-S Reporter is ready whenever you are. It can withstand extreme temperatures, repels dust and water, and survives rough handling. Its discreet design also allows you to immerse yourself unobtrusively in the action - for authentic, vivid photos and videos. The SL2-S Reporter follows in the tradition of Leica's established Reporter design series, which is focused on one thing: documenting the diversity of our world.

Aramid- protects with every fiber
So tightly woven that it is almost impossible to separate them. Aramid fibers are woven in an unmistakable pattern and offer the Leica SL2-S Reporter protection even under the most adverse shooting conditions. Also in terms of handling: the fibers provide a significantly improved grip - for even more security and support when photographing and filming.

Durable
The durability and robustness of the SL system culminate in the Leica SL2-S Reporter: with its particularly scratch-resistant matt green coating and the reinforcement with aramid fibers, it redefines the limits of resilience and reliably protects the SL2-S Reporter from external influences. The technical properties of the design version are the same as those of the SL2-S series model. Quality "Made in Germany", quality made for generations.

Made in Germany
Designed with care
Just like the Leica SL2 Reporter, the SL2-S Reporter is also developed and manufactured in Germany. Its extremely solid metal construction and elegant leather coating are durable and guarantee years of photographic enjoyment - always up to date thanks to continuous firmware updates.

Operation and handling
Developed with creatives for creatives
The Leica SL2-S Reporter has a unique user interface, separated into photo and video functions, simple and intuitive, so that the photographer can concentrate fully on shooting - an incomparable experience based on feedback from customers and professional photographers worldwide.

Cine Mode
Professional video mode
The Leica SL2-S records 4K and Cine4K video with Leica L-Log Gamma and 10-bit resolution in 4:2:2 and up to 60 frames per second. The integrated viewing LUTs give the user full control at all times during recording. Another professional feature is the unlimited recording time for video. Video recording is therefore only limited by the internal or external memory used.

4Kvideo with HEVC*
Future-proof
The Leica SL2-S Reporter supports highly efficient HEVC video compression for 10-bit recording up to 4K/60p (h.265). Videos can also be divided into one-minute segments to minimize the risk of data loss.

An automatic follow focus, the integrated waveform monitor, color bar, timecode input and tally mode further enhance the camera for professional use.

EyeRes viewfinder
Perfect control in every situation
The EyeRes EVF combines an outstanding 5.76MP display panel with an eyepiece made of the finest metal and glass and the tightest mechanical and optical tolerances to offer an unsurpassed viewing experience and enable the simplest possible image composition.

24MP CMOS-BSI sensor
Latest generation full-frame
The Leica SL2 Reporter's new full-frame sensor with 24 megapixels and backside illumination produces outstanding images in all lighting conditions. An enormous dynamic range, a color depth of 14 bits per RGB channel and a sensitivity of up to ISO 100,000 enable low-noise images of exceptional quality, even in low light.

Maestro III processor
Fast working speed
The Maestro III processor in conjunction with the large buffer memory of 4 gigabytes is responsible for the exceptional working speed of the Leica SL2-S Reporter. Image series with up to 25 DNG images per second are just as possible as virtually unlimited image series whose length in JPEG format is limited only by the memory cards used in both UHS-II-compatible SD card slots.

Leica FOTOS
Seamless, instant and everywhere
Leica FOTOS connects your camera to your smartphone or iPad via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Using the app, you can control many functions of your Leica camera directly from your mobile device and transfer, view, edit and share photos in various formats.

Leica Object Detection AF
Powerful and precise
Leica Object Detection AF ensures fast and reliable AF operation. In addition to a range of modes and functions, including face detection, the powerful AF system of the SL2-S Reporter also automatically detects whether an object is moving or stationary and switches between motion and focus priority accordingly.

Image stabilization
Sensor shift technology
An important feature for the work of many photographers is the movably suspended sensor of the Leica SL2-S Reporter. The highly efficient multi-axis image stabilization compensates for camera shake quickly and efficiently. This in-camera method even enables image stabilization for lenses that are not equipped with it.

Multishot mode
Images with up to 96 MP
The sensor-shift technology used in the SL2-S Reporter enables the camera to take up to eight consecutive images on the tripod in multishot mode, with the sensor being shifted in half-pixel increments between each shot. This important function produces images with a quadrupled resolution of around 96 megapixels, which results in an extreme increase in detail resolution.

Robust, dust and splash-proof (IP54)
Produce in any situation
The IP54 certification of the SL2-S Reporter guarantees increased protection against moisture and dust. Even under adverse production conditions, the SL2-S Reporter reliably delivers outstanding results. Photographers and videographers can therefore concentrate fully on their work.

L-Mount
Unlimited possibilities
Thanks to the L-Mount, the Leica SL2-S Reporter is fully compatible not only with the extensive range of SL-System lenses, but also with TL-Lenses and, via adapters, with lenses from the Leica M-, R- and S-Systems. In total, over 40 autofocus Lens are available thanks to the L-Mount Alliance. In addition, the Leitz Cine Lens, which are coveted by all filmmakers, can also be adapted.
